SFD Participates in the 2015 National Night Out Event
Thursday, August 6, 2015

The Salisbury Fire Department participated in the 2015 National Night Out event held Tuesday 4 August 2015 at the city park in Salisbury.  The event's purpose is to bring the community closer to its police and fire departments, with a focus on children.  Many hours were dedicated to planning and prepping for the event.  Hot dogs, chips, and drinks were free to the public, and nearly 40 bicycles were randomly lotteried to local children.  Members of the SPD and SFD "competed" in several contests, with the SFD winning the all-important tug-of-war, and maintaining bragging rights for another year!

Members of 2E, C Shift, Stations 1/2/16, Ladies Aux, and cadets staffed a fire prevention table, passed out fire helmets to children and fire safety literature to adults, gave static tours of E1, and provided important "hands-on" safety practices via the fire safety trailer loaned to the SFD by the Willards Volunteer Fire Department.  A huge debt of gratitude to Willards for allowing the SFD the use of the safety trailer again for this year's event.  Even Sparky the Fire Dog made an appearance!!

Please dont forget that the SFD will be hosting its annual Open House event next Saturday, 15 August 2015 from 10:00-2:00.  Tours of the facilites, an auto extrication demonstration, and the fire safety trailer are just a few of the examples of planned events for the day.  For more information, please visit www.salisburyfd.com.
