Martin St. House Fire
Saturday, January 4, 2014

Around 2am on 1/4/14 Stations 2, 16, and 1 were alerted for a house fire on Martin St.  Units arrived to find a 2-1/2 story, balloon frame structure with smoke showing from the second floor and attic.  Crews entered the dwelling and immediately began opening up walls and ceilings to locate the fire.  Crews stretched two handlines to the second floor and extinguished the bulk of the fire.  The fire had spread vertically and horizontally and many of the walls on the second floor had to be exposed.  Fruitland (Sta. 3) provided additional manpower and assisted with operations.  Crews were on the scene until after 5am performing extensive overhaul and ensuring complete extinguishment.  AC-1 (Gladwell) had the Command.  The Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
