Working Structure Fire on West Side of District
Monday, December 26, 2022

At 22:23 Hours, Salisbury Fire Department Stations 1, 2, and 16, as well as Wicomico County Station 5 and Sussex County Station 74 were dispatched to the 800 Block of Miami Avenue for a reported structure fire - Central Dispatch advised responding units that multiple calls were being received for this alarm - E16 arrived first advising fire through the roof and ordered a defensive operation - E16 officer then ordered the deuce and a half into service as Assistant Chief 1 arrived and established a fixed command
Truck 1 arrived and assisted w/ defensive operations - E1 arrived, laying a 5" supply line from Booth Street x Mineola Avenue - after the water supply had been secured, 1.75" handlines (x2) were stretched to the Alpha and Charlie sides of the structure and extinguishment operations continued
Automatic Aid companies were put to work upon arrival in either extinguishment or overhaul operations - Engine/Tanker 74-2 was asked to remain available from the scene for additional SFD calls for service - Central Dispatch was asked to fill Firehouse 2 w/ a truck and Firehouse 1 w/ an engine from mutual-aid companies - Truck 7 and Engine 303 filled the standby assignments
State Fire Marshal requested to respond to the scene - Delmarva Power requested to make a response (pulled meter upon their arrival)
extensive overhaul operations conducted - scene turned over to state FM upon cessation of fire operations - automatic aid companies returned to service ASAP - SFD units placed back in service soon thereafter - stand-by companies released w/ thanks of Incident Commander
