Apartment Fire in Salisbury - Parkside Apartments, Salisbury

December 13, 2009 – During the afternoon of Sunday, December 13, 2009, all three Salisbury Fire Department stations were alerted for a reported structure fire in an apartment at Parkside Apartments. Upon units arrival, nothing was showing and command was established by AC1, (Records). The crew of Engine 1 stretched 200’ of 1 ¾ line to the fire floor and found smoke in the apartment. Truck 1 laddered the building and began checking adjacent apartments. Engine 16 laid a 5 inch line from the hydrant to Engine 1 for a water source. Engine 16 also controlled utilities and checked apartments on Division 3. The fire was located in a rear bedroom and a quick knock was made. Crews located and removed three dogs and 1 cat from adjoining apartments due to smoke. Crews remained on scene for some time for overhaul and clean-up.
